Every year, around this time, the prestigious DiVino magazine publishes the best wines from Bulgaria. DiVino has been profiling itself for years as the leading tasting panel in the country.
They objectively, without commercial intent, judge more than 2000 Bulgarian wines by rigorous judges.
The selection is based on the 100 point system and wines in the top 50 are blind tasted 4 more times! So eyes are mainly focused on their TOP 50, TOP 20 and TOP 10!
The tasting box consists of 3 red wines from the DiVino TOP 20:
2 bottles of Rumelia Merul Mavrud Reserve 2016 - TOP 20 #16
The Reserve Mavrud wine from Rumelia wine cellar, made in the heart of the Thracian valley, has been an established name over the years and that explains why this wine has reached the Top 20 again and again. Unique terroir for the Mavrud grape.
2 bottles of Damyanov VNYRD Cuvée 2016 - TOP 20 #14
The new winemaker Damyanov is very ambitious and immediately wins prizes as the best Bulgarian wines. This is a very good result in the short term. A proof that the terroir of the Melnik region and the production expertise of the winery go together perfectly here.
2 bottles of Bratanov 3-Blend 2015 - TOP 20 #6
And what would the Top10 be without wine from Bratanov family winery? The winery's first cuvée since their inception in the South Thracian Valley. The idea of 3-blend is simple: making a top red cuvée in response to great Bordeaux wines, with a Bulgarian touch, the Rubin grape next to the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2015 vintage was a top year for Bratanov everywhere!
