Evmolpia is a Bulgarian grape variety, obtained by crossing the Merlot and Mavrud grape varieties. The grapes used for the wine are harvested in mid-September from own vineyards near the town of Shumen. The wine ferments in small vessels, subject to continuous monitoring, and matures for 8 months in new French barrels of 400 l. This wine is a part of our Bulgarian Series of wines that serve as ambassadors of our call for preservation of Bulgarian wine grape varieties. Like the Gergana wine from so called Gergana variety.
Our tasting notes:
A impressive deep purple red wine of the Evmolpia grape variety. It boasts blueberry, blackberry and prune aromas. Medium bodied, with fine ripe tannine, balanced with freshness and fruity finish.
Best with:
solid fish disches, poultry - chicken and turkey, mushrooms, cheeses.
