“Orbelia Winery - with love for traditions” - said family Chorbadzhiyski.
Orbelia is the ancient Thracian name of the mountain and means white, beautiful mountain top.
What we most appreciate of Orbelia winery and their wines is the philosophy to follow traditions of the region by using grape variety typical for the Melnik region - Melnik and the cross variety like Melnik 55 also Sandasnki misket whites. Using classic winemaking technics that are typical for the region too like long aging reds in oak barrels.
Orbelia Winery is a very new project. It’s a family winery founded in 2013. It is located in one of the most favorable regions for wine production in Bulgaria - the Struma Valley, at the foot of Belasitsa Mountain, in the village of Kolarovo, 12 km. west of Petrich. Region is also known as the Melnik region. Winery is managed by Kostadin Chorbadzhiyski and his son Nikolay Chorbadzhiyski .
The have own vineyards that are spread in the villages Mitinovo and Starchevo near Petrich town. In total of 22 ha of own vineyards. The annual capacity is 100,000 liters of wine, and they use RVS tanks with a capacity of 500 liters to 5,000 liters, which allows us to select small batches of high-quality wines. We monitor the quality of our wines in a specially equipped laboratory. Some of their wines are seen some or partially new oak so the aging of the wines takes place in oak barrels of Bulgarian, French and American, in a special room with constant control of temperature and humidity.
