• Bratanov Private Reserve Cabernet Franc 2019

Vintage 2019: After six years of silence (last vintage 2013), Cabernet Franc returns to the Bratanov portfolio as a “Private Reserve” — a true renaissance of character, elegance, and terroir expression. The 2019 vintage was marked by a balanced climate in the South Sakar region, with moderate rainfall during the growing season and no extreme weather events. These conditions supported homogeneous ripening and an optimal balance between technological and phenolic maturity.

Winemaking: Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks with indigenous wild yeasts originating from the vineyard, followed by ageing in carefully selected barrels of varying origins and volumes. The oenologist, Maria Stoeva, selected only 9 barrels of Bulgarian, French, and Hungarian oak to define the finesse and balance of this single-varietal wine; the remaining lots were incorporated into the 3-Blend 2019 with Merlot and Rubin.
After 60 months of barrel ageing and an additional 2 years of bottle ageing prior to its release in January 2026, the wine reveals remarkable depth, complexity, and a pronounced sense of terroir. Extended élevage enhances structural refinement and enables natural clarification.

Crafted for long-term cellaring, with an optimal drinking window from 2026 to 2036+.
Limited production: 3,963 bottles.

Tasting notes: deep ruby color with garnet reflections. Intense aromatic expression of ripe black fruits and musk, complemented by refined spice, leather, dried cherry, and cigar notes. Full-bodied with velvety, ripe tannins, an elegant structure, and subtle hints of dark chocolate, clove, and tobacco. Long, spicy finish with persistent impressions of ripe fruit and leather.

Food pairing: beef steak, lamb chops, slow-cooked stews, aged cheeses such as Pecorino, Grana Padano, Parmigiano, and dark chocolate desserts.
