Intriguing and complex cuvée. Damyanov winemaker shows originality and the strong connection to the Struma River Valley region, famous for its Melnik variety. Quality grapes due to old vines (+50 years old). Classic winemaking technique - each variety in this cépage (60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Melnik55) is vinified separately, so the final blend is made before bottling. Further aged for 12 months in French and Bulgarian oak barrels of which 50% are new. The wine is unfiltered.
Good to know: the name "VNYRD" comes from the first letters of the names family winery, namely Vladimir, Nina, Yane, Rozalina, Damyanov.
Our tasting notes:
The specific characteristics of the three grapes complement each other to evolve into intriguing and harmonious wine with an expressive nose. Aromas of red and black plums, cassis, ripe cherries, dried herbs, black pepper, toast and vanilla. The palate is soft with good fruit concentration and plenty of ripe tannins, yet fresh and balanced, thanks to the high, well-preserved acidity that accompanies the wine on its long, smooth finish.
