The name and logo of the winery represent the idea of four friends who, united by their common love of wine, decided to revive the delicious flavors of wine in a region with a deep tradition of winemaking.
The Four Friends winery is located near the village Gorno Botevo, 15 km east of city of Stara Zagora. The area is part of the Thracian Valley wine region, one of the places called the cradle of wine production and famous for its excellent terroir. Around the winery are 40 acres of vineyards with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Mourvèdre (en premiur) and Petit Verdot. Planting began in 2006 and continued until 2015. Organic viticulture began in 2015 and, as of 2020, all of the winery's vineyards are certified organic.
The climate is mild, temperate continental, with many sunny days (more than 3,000 hours of sunshine, more than 120 days a year).
The winery's team has been led for 15 years by chief technologist Petar Iliev, who follows the entire process, from planting to bottling the wine. Agronomists and oenologists strictly monitor the quality of the product through the winery's modern laboratory.
The wines at the Four Friend winery are produced using classical technologies with a lot of handwork, which largely determines the quality of the wine. The wines of the winery are presented in 3 series - Four Friends, Zitara and Morgentau and have been awarded over the years at international exhibitions and in traditional competitions in Bulgaria.

When we asked the team "What are the most important qualities you must have to make quality wine?" they answered almost unanimously.
Peter Iliev - Four Friends - Chef Winemaker - from 2012
For him, winemaking is not just a job, it is his lifestyle. He applies new technologies to classic winemaking and experiments with different grapes and methods. His favorites are Cabernet Franc, Mourvèdre, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. He is also the first winemaker in Bulgaria to introduce single vineyard Mourvèdre in 2013, which later received the gold Mundus Vini medal.
