• Zitara Premium Gorno Botevo Vineyard 2016

The Thracian Valley in Bulgaria is exceptionally well-suited for red grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and the lesser-known but remarkable Petit Verdot. These three grape varieties form the foundation of this exquisite red cuvée. With 60% Cabernet Franc providing structure, 30% Merlot adding depth and fruity notes, and 10% Petit Verdot for a touch of "spice," this wine achieves a perfect balance. The grapes are hand-picked from the estate's vineyard in the village of Gorno Botevo, which gives this limited-edition gem from Four Friends Winery its name.

Our tasting notes: 'Four Friends' showcases the best of these three grape varieties in this cuvée: an impressive, deep ruby-red color with opaque intensity. The nose is complex and fresh, featuring layered aromas of primary, secondary, and tertiary notes such as blackberries, herbs, smoke, coffee, violets, and forest moss. The wine is elegant, well-structured, and harmonious, with a medium to full body and ripe tannins, complemented by subtle accents of dark chocolate, black pepper, and cherries. The finish is long, spicy, and warming. Thanks to precise oak barrel selection and aging for 16 months in barriques, followed by 3 years of bottle maturation, this wine delivers a unique and refined experience.

Each bottle comes in a luxury box with a numbered certificate.

With food: grilled red meat, stews, aged cheeses (Manchego, Cheddar, or Gouda), spicy dishes (Moroccan stews), and roasted vegetables (eggplant, bell peppers, and mushrooms). In short, look for dishes with robust flavors, depth, and texture to complement.
