The winemakers Georgiev/ Milkov primarily decided to work with this late-ripening variety as it is part of the region’s tradition of their winery location. This genuine Bulgarian variety is one of the highlights of the Rose Valley in the Thracian Lowlands. The vineyards are situated at the foot of the Stara Planina Mountains in the north and Sredna Gora in the south. The vineyards are 45 years old and grow at an altitude of around 350 meters. The soils are loamy-sandy, deluvial-proluvial soil.
In addition to the still wine they produce from it, their Red Misket Pét-Nat (methode ancestrale), a non-vintage sparkling wine, is an absolute must-try!
Vinification: Base wine from 2022 and cuvée from 2023!
2022 Vintage - Handpicked grapes in crates. 30 days of skin contact. Spontaneous fermentation with skins. Base wine is aged 12 months in acacia barrels.
2023 Vintage - Handpicked grapes in crates. Draining without contact with the skins. Spontaneous fermentation. Blending with 2023 Vintage base during fermentation. Bottling at last stage of fermentation, whereafter fermentation is finishing in the bottle. Deglazed at the end of January 2024.
Alcohol -11,5 %; Residual sugar- 1,4 gr/l; TA - 4,7 gr/l; pH -3,56.
Our Tasting notes: Intensive deep yellow color. Nose is pronounced with aromas of fruit and floral notes, waxy and rounded, quit complex. Palate is as suggested, round, deep yet refreshing with good number of fine bubbles and soft mousse. Skin contacts in acacia barrel for 12 months gave extra boosted the profile and texture of the wine. Refined, finish with good integrated acidity make this Pét-nat a truly big one!
