Hristo Bratanov invites Bulgarian Topwines to visit their Vineyards near (Шишманово) Shishmanov in Sakar hills.Lovely day, not too hot and a bit cloudy on that Monday 8 July during our visit to the vineyards of Bratanov family winery. We experience this visit as the best therapy for stress: in the vineyards it’s, quiet, the air is clean, you hear only the birds ... and the interesting stories from Christo Bratanov ...Since the start of Bulgarian Topwines in 2017, we have been working with Bratanov family winery. We know that there is growing interest in the native grapes of Bulgaria. So it should be! Hristo introduces us to the place where everything starts: the vineyard and precisely the place where the Tamianka grape grows in a very natural way, without irrigation, hand-picked and ending up after a lot of work as an aromatic yet complex and fresh surprising wine ...Bratanov is not only strong in making wines from native grapes. Also, with Cabernet Franc, Bratanov succeeds in making an outstanding wine, with its unique character of the Shismanovo terroir. A poor, clay-sandy soil that forces the vines roots to go deep. As a result, the vines are more vital and deliver balanced wines vintage after vintage, said Hristo.
